Infant And Toddler Child Care In Woodridge, IL

At Montessori of Woodridge, our infant/toddler classroom is filled with everything for your child to explore. We sing and talk all day long with our babies. We also play soothing music and have toys for your young child. Hand drums and rattles, squishy/crinkly toys, and nature sounds abound in the classroom. Different flooring, soft blankets, and bumpy mats invite the child to touch and experience these when he/she begins to move and crawl.

Our Toddler Program Focuses On The Stages Of Motor And Language Development

In the toddler classroom, we offer pull toys and push toys, rings to jump into and out of, tunnels to crawl through, child's floor ladder to balance on, and pillows to crawl over and climb on. We entice the child to use muscles and work on coordination and concentration. There is active physical play and times of concentration.

The teachers speak to the child at diaper changing time and at feeding time using direct eye contact. We play, sing, and dance to children’s songs with the children. We work with the child to name objects, read books, and use puppets to tell stories. Language and movement dominate daily planning for the classroom.

Independence Comes With Everyday Activities

The child helps with his own diaper changing and begins to feed himself. There is a potty chair in the classroom to practice with. The child learns to express ideas and needs and is encouraged to grow in language, music, and movement. A sense of accomplishment and belonging, along with an appreciation of self-worth begins here and continues throughout the entire Montessori curriculum.

The Two-Year Classroom: An Extension Of The Toddler Room

In the two-year classroom, the children delight in finding extensions of what they did in the toddler room. The painting easel is available, but they can paint at the table as well. Colored pencils and paper are ready on the shelf, as well as chalkboards and chalk. Some things they had before, and some things are new to use and explore.

Two-year-olds find that they can put on the painting or water works apron by themself and can help get ready for snack and lunch by washing their hands and getting a cup and a napkin. They help with spooning and pouring. They are in charge of the “operations.”

Building Blocks For Education: Independence And Self-Esteem

For Language

The boys and girls like to name the things in the classroom. Teachers encourage attention to language when they use finger puppets and flannel boards for stories. Children love the games with letter sounds, matching cards, and counting. Everything in our nature walks stimulate new words and experiences related to the animals, plants, and people they see.

For Motor Development

The balance beam is one of our children's favorites. They also have large, soft balls for throwing, rings for jumping into or twirling around, and bean bags for balancing and throwing. Our center is surrounded by parks and our playground supports climbing, jumping, throwing, and tossing. Every day, the children use the dress -up corner, the blocks, the doll house, and the trains for playing with others. All props are sanitized between uses or at the end of the day. Little individual washable rugs give each child their own space for working alone.
